BATTLE OF NISÅ
↓ ↓ ↓
Intro
"Harald and Svein first met as foes,
Where the Niså in the ocean flows;
For Svein would not for peace entreat,
But, strong in ships, would Harald meet.
The Norsemen prove, with sword in hand,
That numbers cannot skill withstand.
Off Halland's coast the blood of Danes
The blue sea's calm smooth surface stains."
From Heimskringla by Snorri Sturlason
Description
The Battle of Niså ("Slaget vid Nissan" in Swedish) was a naval battle fought on 9 August 1062 between the forces of Norwegian king Harald Hardrada and king Sweyn II of Denmark.
With this tabletop miniatures game we're trying to recreate the battle itself, how it could have looked, and also if it could have ended in another way. The game will include a one-of-a-kind model of the coastal area outside of present-day city of Halmstad.
The game is developed with support from Region Halland.
Events
The game will have its vernissage at the public library of Halmstad (Stadsbiblioteket i Halmstad) on August 22, 13:00 - 16:00. There will also be an opportunity to play the game on the Sunday (August 23). Check out the Facebook event for more information!
After the game has been shown at the library, we will take it on a tour through Halland. If you know a good place for us to show the game, please get in touch.
If you can't come play our physical copy of the game, we're also planning to do a Kickstarter. Follow our pre-launch page to get notified when the campaign goes live.
